Gallatin EQ Tank and Pump Station

Gallatin EQ Tank and Pump Station

The City of Gallatin contracted J. Cumby Construction to complete a new Equalization Tank and Pump Station. Prior to proceeding with these structures, J. Cumby first demolished the existing structures left on the site. This demolition included the previous EQ tank and pump station from the 1950s, a large concrete slab that previously held a furniture production facility as well as hazardous material removal from the boiler room of another previous structure.

Site conditions required J. Cumby to blast rock prior to the excavation of the new Pump Station Facility.

Lastly and more notably, construction of a new Drainage Basin ‘A’ Flow Equalization Facility including a 10 Million Gallon Prestressed Tank, Concrete Structures, Pumps, Variable Frequency Drives, Piping, Valves, Meters, Concrete, Electrical, SCADA, Building, Site Work, Demolition, and all other appurtenances.

Stones River WTP

J. Cumby will be demolishing 20" ductile iron spool pieces, fittings, valves and installing 20" ductile iron spool pieces, fittings, valves and a 700 horsepower vertical turbine pump.

Lastly, J. Cumby will also be changing out 4ea variance frequency drives in the High Service Pump Station, as well as, 4ea variable frequency drives in the membrane pump station.

The Project consists of furnishing all labor, material, and equipment for the installation of a new high service pump, including all associated valves, piping, motor, and variable frequency drive, replacing two (2) existing high service pump variable frequency drives and one backwash pump variable speed drive, replacement of three (3) existing check valves, and the replacement of an existing PLC for the high service pump station including integration. The project also includes the replacement of four (4) existing variable speed drives for the membrane feed pumps.

MBWWTP Equalization Basin and Blower Replacement Improvements Project

J Cumby Construction, Inc., will be making modifications to the existing equalization basins to include construction of a dividing wall in each existing equalization basin, which is in excess of 7 acres each, to result in four (4) new basins at the end of construction, demolition of existing process equipment and installation of new diffusers, aerators, vertical turbine pumps, blowers, water cannons with associated piping and electrical infrastructure, demolition and renovation of portions of the plan blower building and a dilution water pump station. Additionally, there will be resurfacing and repairs made to the asphalt around the equalization basins.

Furthermore, there will be approximately 10,000 cubic yards of concrete needed in order to complete the project. In Addition, the City of Chattanooga will be coordinating with J Cumby to plan out phases in which the modifications will be completed. The City of Chattanooga is needing the equalization basins to remain operational throughout the project to ensure that the WWTP can meet the system demands, as well as making sure the project can be completed on time.

Fairview Waste Water Treatment Plant Additions

Fairview Waste Water Treatment Plant Additions

The Water Authority of Dickson County, to increase overall plant capacity and introduce more efficient treatment methods, has contracted J. Cumby Construction to upgrade and add to the Fairview Wastewater Treatment Plant in a two phase operation. 

Phase one consists of the construction of new anoxic and anaerobic tanks to incorporate the use of both bubble aeration equipment and rotating mixers as well as a new headworks structure and associated underground piping and vaults. Also included in phase one are an electrical building secondary anoxic and re/air basins.

Phase two of the project includes renovation to the plant’s existing oxidation structure by adding jet aeration as well as the rehabilitation of disc aeration. A new 40’ clarifier, post aeration/UV disinfection structure, and nitrified recycle pump station will be added to the plant as part of phase two as well.

In all, the improvements will increase plant processing capacity to over 2.2 million gallons per day and create a more thorough and efficient treatment process.

North West Utility District - Water Treatment Facility Improvements

J. Cumby Construction was contracted by the North West Utility District to upgrade and expand their water treatment facility. The primary project scope was the construction of a six thousand square foot PALL membrane treatment facility as well as the rehabilitation of the sedimentation basin and backwash lagoons. Other work also included was interior and underground process piping and valves, Electrical, controls, and mechanical systems, paved access roads, miscellaneous new and upgraded appurtenances, a metal building, underground chambers, as well as general site work, fences, and gates. Once completed, the project increased the facility’s processing capacity by four million gallons per day.
